Mobile Control: Facebook

Starting back when I got my iPhone 3G, I was totally encapsulated in having Facebook on my phone. Any down time became Facebook-time, I even checked for updates at every red light.

Almost 2 years ago, I decided to get rid of the Facebook app from my iPhone. Not that I don’t like the app, it has gotten better over the years. I just felt that it was time to let go of my phone. I wanted back the time I spent needlessly scanning through Facebook at any down moment. Since then I have been Facebook free on my phone, mostly.

There have been a few times that I put Facebook back on my phone. Those times were for vacations, when I wanted a quick way to post updates about my trip. But shortly after my trip I would immediately delete it, to stop myself from being addicted again.

I will admit that even while on my trip I would tend to check Facebook as I once did. But it’s a bit of a necessary evil, that self control can help balance. Though I find that not having the app, and forcing myself to logon to the mobile site on my phone tends to help keep that in check. Also, takes up one less spot on my home screen!

Please discuss your addiction, or lack of, with the mobile app. Also if you could bring yourself to remove it from your device.
